This is why I have created this post of the best home decor ideas to make your home look expensive on a budget, to help us all out with this problem! Yes, I know there are sooo many good things with a high price tag attached to them, but there are definitely things that can be done inside (and outside) the home to make it appear and feel much more expensive than the things actually are. So let’s talk about them!
THE BEST HOME DECOR IDEAS TO MAKE YOUR HOME LOOK EXPENSIVE ON A BUDGET

-
Hang Curtains High and Wide
This might seem like it wouldn’t do much to a room but trust me, IT DOES! Curtains add so much of a luxurious and homey feel to a room, but when you hang them high with the rod close to the ceiling and wider than the actual window, it changes everything.
If you currently have curtains hung in your home but have been itching for a change, swap your curtains out for some that are good material (I found mine at Homegoods for a great price) and look more on the expensive end but actually aren’t and hang them higher and wider out, and you will be amazed with the difference it brings to your space! this is one of the best home decor ideas to make your home appear and feel more luxurious.

Update Your Kitchen Hardware
This small change can really make a huge difference in not only your kitchen but your entire home. If you feel like the hardware you currently have is outdated, worn out, or maybe just kinda boring, go on a search to find new hardware that really compliments your kitchen and cabinetry. Gold and black are really popular choices in homes right now, so maybe buy one of each color that you like and hold it up to your cabinets to see who the winner is.
Just a simple change like changing out your cabinet hardware is enough to completely transform your kitchen and give it an expensive (but budget friendly) look and feel.

Keep Your Home Organized and Clutter Free
It really is amazing what simply having a clean home can do. Even if your home or furniture is not the most luxurious things, just by having a well-organized and free of clutter home can do wonders and automatically make your home feel and look amazing. If you are living in a disorganized and cluttered space right now, this task may seem far out of reach but with time and a little effort it is completely possible! Start with one room and work your way until all clutter is gone.
This is super important when you are wanting to achieve a clean-expensive look to your home. Things just always look better when they are well organized, no matter how old or outdated the home is.

Add One or a Few Area Rugs
This one is definitely my favorite idea to make your home feel and look more expensive on a budget, cause I LOVE me a good rug! These days you can find great deals on big area rugs for under $200 so this really is a cheap way to spruce up your space. If you have rooms with hardwood or concrete flooring, especially in main spaces like the living area, rugs are crucial in making your home look more like a designer home while also being budget friendly!
If you love shopping at homegoods and TJmaxx like I do, you can find a pretty good deal on an area rug at one or both of these places. Or if you do have the money to spend, you can opt for a washable rug because who doesn’t love a washable AND cute rug? But if you can’t afford the expensive rug brands, there are so many good deals on rugs on amazon, wayfair, tjmaxx and homegoods, and so many more places if you spend some time looking.

Add a Fake House Plant- Like an Olive Tree
This is an awesome idea I also put into my own home and it turned out so good! I had a place that felt empty in my dining room, so I browsed amazon for a cheap but expensive looking olive tree. As soon as I placed it in the empty space, it brought such a different feel to my dining room and entire kitchen! It really is amazing what something as small as a fake house plant can do.
If you don’t like the look of an olive tree in your home, there are so many more options of fake house plants you can choose from. The best thing to do is to take a photo of the space you are wanting to fill with your fake plant, go to a home store like hobby lobby or homegoods and try to visualize some plants in the picture of your empty space. You will find the perfect one and be so glad you did!

Create a Photo Gallery Wall
Ok so I thought this would be way harder than it actually was to do this, so I let the intimidation of the idea stop me from doing this for a while- but finally got the courage and I LOVE it! This gallery wall in my main living space has brought both a luxurious and homey feel to my home and I love it so much.
I found all of these frames at a local home store (at home) for around $30 each so I call that a WIN seeing how the frames I’ve found from social media posts that I loved are hundreds of dollars each. Especially if you a have huge wall like I did, pictures can really bring a room together if you have the right frame size for your wall! Adding a clean, fresh looking photo wall is a PERFECT home decor idea to make your home appear and feel more luxurious.

Add Mirror to Entry Way
This simple idea will really make your home feel and look more luxurious. Something about a nice mirror really can pull an entry way together-and if you don’t have an entry way, no worries! Find a place in your home where you feel a mirror would look great in and try one out..you might be surprised! Mirrors make your space look more expensive by reflecting the light in the room and making the room appear bigger than it actually is by creating an illusion of a larger area. I have a circular mirror above my entry way table and it makes SUCH a difference. I love mirrors in the right places!!

Update Outdated Light Fixtures
This one might seem expensive and difficult, but you might be surprised what you can find searching amazon or a local home store for deals on some new light fixtures. If your home has old or outdated light fixtures, swapping them out with some new and updated ones can make a HUGE difference in trying to make your home look more expensive and luxurious while on a budget. If you’re like me and maybe have ZERO idea on how to change a light fixture, good ole youtube videos will help sooo much!
In addition to adding new light fixtures, replacing outdated ceiling fans with updated ones will also make your space look more expensive and transform your home!

Add Fresh New Landscaping
For the last best home decor idea to make your home look more expensive while on a budget, this one is for the outside of your home and that is to UPDATE your landscaping! This may seem super expensive to do, but if you get a game plan of what you are wanting to do before you go to a home store like Lowes or Home Depot then you will only get the things you need and not end up with way more plants than you originally needed, ha.
What I like to do is draw a sketch of my landscaping around my home and do a little googling and pinterest searching for my favorite landscaping ideas and once I have my ideas I will draw (or try my best to) where I want each plant/bush/tree and how much mulch or rock I will need. Next I will look the prices up online and get a ballpark idea of how much my total will be. Landscaping can definitely be on the more expensive side if you go all out with it, but there are definite ways to budget this and still make your outside look fabulous!
Even if your home lacks updates and you might dream of a brand new home one day, with a little work like these ideas listed above, you can totally transform your home into looking and feeling so much more luxurious and home-y at the same time. Try some of these ideas and I bet you won’t be disappointed!
If you are on a budget but are also itching to bring some fresh feelings into your home or space, search for deals on things that can bring your home a fresher and more expensive look. I’m confident you can transform your space to exactly what you are wanting! When you are wanting to update some things within your home, remember these home decor ideas!
