The Most Genius Closet Organization Ideas You Must Know About
This post is all about the most genius closet organization ideas you must know about.
Do you need more closet organization in your life…well in your closet? If so, you came to the right place because here are all of my favorite tried and true closet organization ideas that you must know about!

Use Shoe Organizers to Prevent Pile-Up
Using shoe organizers in your closet is one of the best ways to organize your closet floor space if you don’t have any built-in shelving specifically for shoes. There are a couple different types of shoe organizers that I recommend, depending on how large your space is.
If you have a small space and need shoe organization, I recommend either a small shoe shelf or a shoe organizer that hangs over your closet door. Both are great options, whichever works best for your space!
Here are both organizers that I recommend – and both have a great price!

Do an Updated Sort Through of All Clothes
When organizing your closet, I highly recommend doing a sort through of all your clothes and getting rid of anything you don’t want. Make 2 piles – one for lightly used items that can be donated and another for things that are too worn out and need to be tossed.
Once you have all your clothes sorted, then you can start properly organizing them since you have already weeded out all the clothes you no longer want or need!
Sort Your Clothes by Color and Style
This simple organization tip has completely changed my closet in the best way haha.
Color sorting your clothes but also sorting them out by style – for example put tank tops together, shirts together, long sleeves, dresses, etc. rather than having everything jumbled in with each other. This makes things SO much easier!
If you are one that likes to keep out of season clothing binned up or put away, I highly recommend putting out of season clothing into clear bins with labels so you can see exactly what’s inside!
Upgrade (as You Can) to all Velvet Hangers
So I know how pricey velvet hangers can be so switching all over to them from plastic can be COSTLY, which is why I say do it as you can if it isn’t in your budget to purchase all new ones at once.
Velvet hangers have lots of perks like being able to fit more of them vs. the standard plastic hangers in small closet spaces. They definitely look so much better in your closet than the plastic ones, and they prevent slippage of clothing which is sooo nice.
If you are looking for some good quality and good priced velvet hangers, here are my fave!
Use Baskets for Extra Storage
Another good closet organization idea is to use baskets (I love using square wicker baskets but any will work) to store things in that you don’t use every day. You can also put things in them like swimsuits, socks, purses, or any accessories that you don’t really have a designated space for.
Putting the baskets up in the shelving of your closet or along the very top shelf gives it a nice, professional and tidy look while hiding what is inside, so its a win-win!
If you need some cute and functional baskets for extra storage, I love these!!

Consider Adding in a Small Dresser (if Your Space Allows)
Of course this organization idea is depending on how big your closet is, but if your closet is a good size and you have the extra room, I highly suggest adding a small dresser underneath your hanging things or wherever there is space for one.
Adding a dresser inside your closet can not only give so much extra storage and space, but you can also utilize the top of the dresser by adding something like a jewelry station.
If you are in search of a good option for a dresser that would fit into even a smaller sized closet, this one is highly recommended!

Use Shelf Dividers
Another organization idea for your closet that I love is to use shelf dividers for your shelves in your closet. These dividers seriously come in handy when you are wanting to have things on your shelves, but still have it look neat and organized. Shelf dividers do a great job at keeping things separate and organized!

Install Hooks for More Storage Areas
Adding some nice looking hooks to a wall or some over the door hanging hooks is a great organization idea for your closet. With these hooks you can hang pretty much whatever you need to like scarves, belts, or that jacket you are always reaching for. Hooks are an easy but great way to instantly add a little organization to any closet.
Here are some great options for hooks to add to walls and hooks to hang over a door – both great options for extra organization!

Space Saving Pants Hangers
Investing in some of these pants hangers works so well at saving space if you have a limited amount! These hangers can hold 4-5 pairs of pants at one time and take up way less space than having one pair on a hanger. Plus, they look way better than the standard plastic ones.

Add a Cute Laundry Basket
Adding in a cute laundry basket after completely organizing your closet is just the cherry on top! Something about a cute laundry basket just makes you feel good haha. I love to get my laundry baskets at homegoods or TJmaxx, because they have the cutest ones for basically the same price as the standard ones you get at walmart.
Here is my favorite laundry basket that also has a great price!
