Do you have a list of home projects that you have been meaning to start but feel like you haven’t had the time? Truthfully, all you need is a free weekend and a determined mind to do some DIY and transform your home into exactly what you’ve envisioned it to be!

Below are lots of different ideas of a DIY home project that can take your home to the next level, and each of them can be done in a single weekend!

 

DIY HOME PROJECTS YOU CAN DO IN A WEEKEND

Board and Batten Wall

Ok so I honestly wasn’t even sure of the correct term for this look of a wall, but I would always see them in homes on Pinterest or shows and think “wow that wall completely changes the feel and look of that room” and it totally does! It might seem a little intimidating but creating a wall like this is actually WAY simpler than you and me both probably thought. A couple quick YouTube tutorials and a trip to your home improvement store is all you need to knock this out of the park! This is a great DIY home project that can be done in a weekend!

 

 

Add in Some Built Ins

Adding built in shelving is an awesome DIY home project that can bring more value to your home and space. If you have a blank area in your home that you can’t figure out what to do with the space, maybe adding built ins is your answer! There are lots of places to add built ins in a home -like in the living room on either side of fireplace, inside closets, inside pantries, inside the laundry room, and more!

 

Giving Your Bathroom Fresh Paint

Have you been wanting to update the paint in your master bathroom, whether it be the vanity or the walls? You might be surprised at what fresh paint can do for a room! This is seriously the best DIY home project to do on a free weekend. Go get some paint samples, take it back to your bathroom and decide what color is best, go back to get your paint and get to work. Once you have your fresh coat of paint on your vanity or walls (or both ha), go get some fresh new rugs and bathroom decor pieces to tie it all together. You can basically complete a bathroom makeover in a single weekend!

Create a Gallery Wall

Have you seen how elegant gallery walls can make a room look and feel? If you have some images that you love and have been wanting to print and put on your walls, this is a great DIY home project to do in a weekend! Making a photo gallery wall is one of my faves and I actually have two of them in my home hehe, I LOVE them and feel like they completely change the look of a room. If you are looking for sleek looking thick matted frames, these are my favorite!

 

Outdoor Landscape

Another great idea for a DIY home project is sprucing up your outdoor landscaping area(s). Of course if you are in winter months then this really can’t apply but for warmer months, this is the perfect DIY project for a weekend! Bringing in new mulch or rock, planting some flowers or shrubs, and making your outside look refreshed can totally transform your outside look!

 

 

 

Give Your Front Door a Glow Up

I love transforming the front door area of my home to match whatever season we are in, so this DIY project can be done in any season! If you’re feeling it and your door needs it, throw on a fresh coat of paint and give your front door a total makeover-you can even change your door handle if you want or need to! Find the perfect wreath and door mat to match the season you’re in and find some cute outdoor decor for your front door space and just like that you have given your front door the glow up it deserves!

 

 

Build A Fire Pit

This is a super popular DIY home project to do on a weekend that lots of people take advantage of. A home fire pit is a great thing to have during all months of the year! In the summer, a fire pit is perfect for roasting marshmallows and cooking out, and then in the winter months its perfect for gathering around it for warmth and drinking something warm. So seriously, you can’t go wrong with a fire pit of your own!

 

Replace Cabinet Hardware

This is an easy and totally achievable in a weekend DIY home project to do. Even if your current hardware on your cabinets isn’t out of date or old, maybe you have been wanting a different color or shape. You can go with only switching out your kitchen cabinet hardware or you can go all in and do all the cabinets in your home if you’re like me and love things to match hehe. There are soo many different color and shape options to pick from when choosing the perfect new handles for your cabinets so choose wisely! I always suggest getting one and taking it home to place on your cabinets to see how you like it-then go back and get the rest!

 

Build a Raised Garden Bed

If you are a gardner and love to grow your own fruits, veggies (or flowers!) then building a raised bed is the perfect DIY home project for you to complete in a weekend! Building one of these can bring organization and accessibility to your gardening space and can help you grow better and more efficiently by extending your growing season. Watch a couple YouTube videos and you will know how to and be able to accomplish this DIY project like a pro!

 

Create a Garage Organization System

Depending on how messy your garage is, this DIY project could possibly take more than a weekend ha. But if you have a semi organized garage or have extra helping hands, then this can definitely be a weekend project! Looking at ideas on Pinterest is a great way to figure out what kind of organization system you wanna go with. Once you have the type of organization you want (I highly recommend going with clear storage totes or heavy-duty totes labelled with what’s inside), get your supplies and get to organizing! You’ll be SO happy you did this.

 

Power Wash exterior and decks

This DIY home project alone can make your home look 10 years newer. Power washing is different than just washing with soap and a hose because it has such strong power with the water – it can seriously wash away year old stains! You can power wash so many things that you (and me) probably didn’t even realize including your driveway, decks, patios, furniture, and siding on your home to make it look 100x better!

 

 

 

 

 

These DIY home projects are some seriously great ideas if you want to revamp some places within or add value to your home. Each of these can totally be done on a free weekend and aren’t super complicated. Sometimes all we need is a good DIY project and a free Saturday 😀
