This post is all about summer home decor ideas you’ll obsess over.
I don’t know about you, but summer is one of my favorite times. My kids are home from school every day, we have late nights at the pool, we get to grill for dinner every night..seriously the best time! Another thing I love about summer is getting to put out all of my summer home decor. I LOVE fixing the decor on my front porch for summer and finding the cutest summer wreath! Here I will show you my favorite summer home decor ideas for your home.
SUMMER HOME DECOR IDEAS YOU’LL OBSESS OVER
Pick a Summer-ish Color Scheme
There are a lot of different ways to decorate your home for summer. First, you need to decide on what type of color scheme you’re going for. Here are some different color schemes for summer decor ideas:
- Beach/Nautica colors (light to darker shades of blue and maybe some beige)
- Bright summer colors (bright blue, yellow, green)
- Light and airy (light and neutral tones, whites and beige)
- Beachy colors (neutral tones of blues and greens and colors of the sand)
These are all really good color schemes when trying to decide what style of summer home decor to go with. If you live near the ocean, maybe beachy color schemes would be best in your home. If you live nowhere near the beach (me, haha but wish I did!!) then maybe going with a light and airy color scheme is best.
Choose Areas in Home to add Decor
Where do you want to add your summer decor to? Maybe you want to go all in and decorate your entire home with summer feels. Or maybe you only want to add summer home decor to your front porch area with a summery door mat and wreath. Wherever you want to add in your decor, get an idea so you know what and how much decor you need.
Some areas you could add summer decor into your home are:

Front Door Ideas
I absolutely love decorating my front door and home entrance area. I feel like when you have an attractive front door/entryway, it makes your home look so much more put together. Here are some really good ideas to add some summer home decor into your front door space:
Find a cute summer door mat. This of course is one of my favorite ways to decorate for any holiday. TJmaxx or Homegoods always have the BEST variety of mats. But I also love these and they are all from amazon!
Hang a summer wreath on door. I also love me a good wreath and feel like hanging a wreath immediately makes your front door look so put together haha. I have a lot of different wreaths for every holiday and love switching them out to fit the time of season. Here are my top picks for a summer wreath for your front door.

Add flowerpots with summer-colored flowers. You will have to have the space for this, but if you do, I highly recommend adding some flowers that are potted in pretty pots. I recommend you add one on each side of your front door (if you can), I LOVE the look of large potted flowers on each side. If adding flowers, just make sure to water them and keep them looking fresh. Dead flowers will not help your front door look appealing haha.

Change out throw pillows on outdoor furniture. Ok so this is only if you have a front porch area with outdoor furniture. If you don’t just scroll past this home decor idea! If you do have front door furniture, changing out or adding new outdoor throw pillows can totally elevate the look to your outdoor space. Consider adding pillows that also have the same colors as other things in your front door space like your wreath, rug, or flowers.

Patio or Deck Ideas
The patio or deck area are also good ones to add summer decor to. Make sure your patio or deck is kept neat and tidy and free of clutter. I always love to do a good power wash (if needed) at the beginning of every summer before I add any summer decor to it. Here are some of my favorite ways to add summer home decor to your back patio or deck:
Upgrade or Add Patio Furniture. If you’re not in a financially able spot to add or replace (if needed) your patio furniture, I totally understand so just skip over this home decor idea. Consider upgrading or at least swapping out cushions of any patio furniture that is super worn out or faded. If you don’t have any patio furniture yet, adding some to your patio or deck can TOTALLY transform your outdoor space!

Add an outdoor rug. If you know me, you know I absolutely love rugs haha. I feel like a good rug can completely change an entire room. Adding an outdoor area rug to your deck or patio will COMPLETELY elevate and transform the way your patio or deck looks. Trust me on this one. Add outdoor lighting. This is another one of my favorite ways to add some summer decor to your space. There’s lots of different light options you can go with like lanterns, solar lights, string lights and more. My favorite way to add lights to your outdoor deck or patio is to hang string lights around the roof. When evening comes, the lights hung make your space look and feel so summer-ish and cozy!!

Hang outdoor curtains. I had never actually heard or thought about outdoor curtains until I saw them on a home in our new neighborhood. They had hung beautiful white and airy curtains on a really dark stained back deck, and I fell in LOVE with the look. Hanging curtains around your deck has a lot of perks to it but is especially great for privacy. They can also help keep out unwanted bugs in the evenings and help with shade during the day!

Bedroom Summer Decor Ideas
My favorite way to add some summer home decor to bedroom spaces are to do it in small ways, not going over the top with it. For example, changing out your curtains or bedding to something that is bright and airy feeling. If you have bright or light colors in a bedroom, when the summer sun shines through it will feel so light and airy. Here are some great ways to incorporate summer home decor in your bedrooms:
Go for a light-colored bedding color. Having a light-colored bedding is great for summer months (or all the time, really). Go for neutral and lighter tones vs. really dark ones. Lighter tones will make your room feel bright and summery when the light shines through. Here are my top favorites for light colored bedding.
Keep your room decor light and airy. Grays, beiges, crisp whites, and blues go PERFECT together for a light and airy feeling to a room. If you are trying to achieve a summer feel, definitely go with lighter colors, not darker ones. Think of the color scheme of the ocean or all neutral colors. Bathroom Summer Decor Ideas
For a bathroom, you can decorate it lots of different ways for summer! You can go with all beachy vibes and decorate with a blue/beige color scheme, adding in some seashell art or other things. You could also go with a bright, fun summer color scheme and use all the bright summer colors. Or you could go for an exact theme like lemons, flamingos, or another summerish theme.
